This weekend we had 4 star international event organized in one of the four cables in Croatia, Poreč waterski cable, “Poreč big time Open”. This event was also ranked as 5th stop of Croatian wakeboard tour where all winners were announced. Event was opened for all international competitors.
Training started at Friday, but some of us couldn’t join to the official training. Fortunately before competition started we had last chance training at 8:30 AM for half an hour.
My trip started on Friday. I left Zagreb and I spent night in Rijeka and than early morning Igor and I drove to Poreč. I was trying to fall a sleep, but Igor was waking me up every 5 minutes shoving me potential spots for winching. Who knows, maybe we come over there again when they close all cables.
While he was putting tents under the pine trees I found some place where I could close my eyes and became selfish, anyway he loves camping, so let it be ![]()
Suddenly he was waking me up again… heey, come over, official training is starting… And in 5 min I was on the starting dock wearing my wakeboard. I was too sleepy to ride wakeskate. I just hope that I will wake up before my run starts.
First run on wakeskate was pure disaster. I fell on my stand up trick immediately on the beginning of the run… Again, let’s switch politics in my brain and let’s start again. Second run was better, but it was hard to compete in men category knowing all of them are better. But I could came last and than turn results sheet upside down and I would be first… and as only lady, I’m anyway first
that’s only one positive thing in whole situation.
We had competitors in 7 categories, coming from Austria, Hungary, Slovenia, Serbia, Croatia, Netherlands, Slovakia, Germany… wakeboard and wakeskate. Timo Kapl from Austria once more showed that he is one of the most perspective riders for the future Junior Men categories and maybe one that we will be seeing on big international events. He was followed by Aron Paladi Kovacs from Hungary on the second place and Niklas Lober from Austria on the third place.
Girls category was consisted only from Croatians which showed us that something is changing. I am not anymore only Croatian lady who is competing in wakeboard and new generations are coming. Mara Parentić was on the first place, Paula Babić on the 2nd place and Stefany on the third place.
In Junior Men category Jan Kralj snowed us that he is doing well in two sports, snowboard and wakeboard. Seems combination of both set him on the highest place on the podium. He was followed by Daniel Rutten from Holland on the second place and FilipVeličković from Serbia on the third place. In Master Men category we had Jurica Morić again on the first place. He was followed by Mirko Radošević aka. Lima from Serbia on the second place and Ozren Petrić from Croatia, originally wakeskater on the third place.
In Open Ladies category was Naja Puhan from Slovenia on the first place getting Kinga Shenker Horvath with spins on the kicker. She was on the second place and another Hungarian girl, Agnes Erzse on the third place.
In Open Men was really hard to climb podium, especially with Laszlo Papp from Hungary who won first place hitting one trick after another. He was followed by Robert Pokovec from Slovenia on the second place showing how stylish he can be riding really technical tricks. He was followed by Tom Richter from Germany on the third place.
In Open men wakeskate category first place took Martin Ščambora from Slovakia with clean stylish tricks through whole run finishing his second run with a flip between first tower. What about wild card trick? He just sit on his wakeskate and continue riding on his sneakers. He was followed by Marko Grgeta aka. Wake Kec, local guy showing how high level he has. On the third place was Matic Flajs from Slovenia who was overall tour champion in wakeskate category.
Thanks all cables in Croatia for providing free pass for champions… thanks cable Poreč, Krk and Pag for providing free pass for 2nd and 3rd places too!
Event finished with great after party in Mali Café (Little Café) with a dance till the early morning hours.
